Where to register blogs for backlinks from high DA and PR sites

Here is a list of FREE online directories for blogs I have come across in my various quests to increase my own Blog authority on the web. So, the big question! WHY go through all that pain in the butt? Getting backlinks from sites with authority, that is, have high Domain Authority (DA) and Page Rank (PR) increases your own DA and PR.

Stolen from seomoz's tutorial about Domain authority this is what it means:
"Domain Authority represents SEOmoz's best prediction about how a website will perform in search engine rankings. Use Domain Authority when comparing one site to another or tracking the “strength” of your website over time. We calculate this metric by combining all of our other link metrics (linking root domains, number of total links, mozRank, mozTrust, etc.) into a one single score."

And Page rank according to seomoz again is:
"Page Authority predicts the likelihood of a single page to rank well, regardless of its content. The higher the Page Authority, the greater the potential for that individual page to rank well in search results."

The diagram (I made! thank you! thank you!) here is a pretty good illustration of the factors affecting Domain Authority and Page Ranks.

Note that blog directories are NOT the only way to increase your authority on the web, i.e. making your presence felt. There are other more healthy way (yes, this is not one of the healthiest ones!) to increase the latter:
  • Comment on blogs
  • Do guest blogging
  • Talk to other webmasters and come to agreements to share links to each others website: link sharing
  • Sharing on social networks: facebook, Google+, twitter, pinterest, etc.. you know the rest
  • link buying. Don't do that! One of the definitely illegal ways to do things - it might save you time and give you rank fast! But when you'll eat dirt once Captain Google finds out. And one does not evade this Captain's eyes for very long... Oh you so don't!
So, I really hope you will put this hard-earned list of beautiful FREE blog directories to good use. At the very least, I hope to get some good karma out of this.

I'll update this post with new ones I come upon in due time. Keep in touch :)
